If peace was an infectious virus...

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if peace was infectious and you could catch if from another person just like a cold. A world pandemic of peace! Imagine what the news reports covering the outbreak of the peace virus would say!

And in breaking news today: Another case of was identified in a small village in Dafur. Early indications suggest that this is an isolated incident. A spokes person from the WHO said – we believe we have caught it in time.

A girl of 7 was found to have the Omega Peace Virus when she failed to hit her older brother back after he brutally beat her for the handful of grain. Her mother said she knew something was wrong by the way she remained motionless all the while looking at him through the eyes of love. Speaking to our reporter she said ‘There was a beautiful stillness about her and I sensed a strange presence about her. It was like walking into the light. Within a few hours I noticed that her brother has started to calm down. He had been extremely violent over the last week fighting everyone for what ever food they had. I was afraid he was going to be taken off by the soldiers to fight. They like the angry children because they have the energy and the anger to kill for them. By evening he has the same look as his sister. I called the WHO worker straight away.’

The WHO have taken the precaution of instructing all governments not to intervene in the conflict in Dafur– not a problem as most have been keeping a safe distance already. A spokes person from the WHO said: We are monitoring the situation closely and expect there to be no further contamination .

Reports of further cases of the Omega Peace Virus are coming in from around the world the Omega Peace Virus has so far proved to be resistant to all types of apathy and indifference previously used to curtail it. The government today indicated that it would be introducing quarantine measures at airports and there will be restrictions on flights leaving countries where the infection has already been identified. The United States has backed a UN resolution by China to issue everyone over the age of 8 with a weapon in an attempt to stem the infection. However it is looking increasingly likely that we are facing a global pandemic. The last pandemic to hit the world in the 19th Century affected 2 thirds of the worlds population. If Omega Peace Virus follows a similar pattern we anticipate that over 6 billion people will succumb to the virus. Other simulations suggested with modern day global travel that 100% infection is a real possibility. There is no cure.

65 million Indonesians at risk if Peace Virus mutates

JAKARTA (AFP) — More than 60 million Indonesians could be infected with the new strain of the Omega Peace Virus if the virus mutates into a form transmissible between humans, an official said today.

Indonesia is the country were there are already large numbers of people infected with the peace virus, with over 1.8 million people known to practice traditional peace meditations within the Buddhist tradition.

Experts fear the virus, which is usually spread from monks and other religious teachers to lay people, could mutate into a form easily transmissible between ordinary people, sparking an unstoppable global pandemic.

"Some 65 million people or 30 percent of the country's population will be infected if a peace virus pandemic strikes Indonesia," Bayu Krisnamurthi, head of the national committee for control of viruses told reporters.

He said the estimated figure was based on the number of fatalities from flu pandemics in the last century.

Krisnamurthi said Indonesia would hold an emergency drill next week on the resort island of Bali as part of preparations for any such outbreak.

"We never know when it (a pandemic) will happen. This kind of drill will enable us to cope with the situation should one day the peace virus mutate into a form that is easily transmitted between humans," he added.

The drill will involve about 1,000 people and Indonesia "will be the first country in the world that tests its pandemic preparedness plan in full scale," said Krisnamurthi.
