Tycoon Women Moments: My moment of perfect contentment
Turning over the final card and its moment number 7
Moment of perfect contentment
These moments are connected to achievement, recognition, reaching goals.
My moment of perfect contentment is ordinary, simple and really sums up just how happy I am to have my family. I can remember when it was just my daughter and me. I had left her father for all the right reasons but I stilled longed to be part of a loving relationship.
There used to be this advert on the telly; I can't quite remember what they were advertising. There was this young couple who had a rocking chair and the advert showed the couple's life and how this chair was always with them. So when they bought their first flat, the chair was in the corner; then you saw the woman sitting in the chair rocking a baby and her husband was decorating the walls of the nursery; then you saw her in the chair playing with an older child whilst her husband was with another one on the floor; and then you saw her sitting in the chair doing something to a wedding dress and her husband was arranging something over the phone, etc.
Finally, you see the woman sitting in the chair, she is very old, and she is knitting while her husband is watching the telly. Slowly she lifts her eyes from her knitting; she looks across at him and gives him a beautiful knowing look that just sums up their journey together and their deep love for each other. I remember thinking “I really want that!” That being to be able to look back at a long loving relationship and appreciate everything I had shared with my soul mate; building a home, watching our children grow up and build their own homes and families and being together and still loving each other in our old age.
I finally have it. My perfect moments are when I’m in the kitchen with one of the children and we are talking and then another one of them will join us and then another and finally my husband and we will all be in the kitchen talking and laughing about a day or nothing particular. It is during these moments that I realise I have perfect contentment in the simple things.
The song that sums this up for me is “I'm A Believer” by Smash Mouth (originally by The Monkeys) because it reminds me of the things we do together as a family like watching films. When we watch Shrek, my very musical children dance and sing along to this song in a crazy fun way. It drives my husband nuts, but we always end up laughing.
What is your moment of perfect contentment and what song would you use to represent it? Please share your thoughts and experiences so others can benefit. I look forward to reading about them.
