To be a Tycoon Woman (see foot note) requires commitment and passion. However, more than anything, being or becoming a Tycoon Woman is about understanding your power and the ability you have to changes things in your life.
Sometimes this is actually changing your circumstances and other times it is about changing your approach and mindset so that you are empowered to respond effectively, confident that whatever is going on in your life, you have all the skills and capabilities to deal with it!
Imagine what you could achieve if you never doubted yourself again. This is not to be confused with the self assured arrogance that fails to acknowledge or consider another’s point of view. What I am referring to is fully embracing the idea that you cannot possible fail because there is no failure only feedback.
Feedback, information that you can use to determine what to do next based on what has gone before? I.e., what to keep, what to change and when to change direction. When you fully understand the power you have to create the world you experience then you never doubt yourself. The voices that whisper (and even sometime yell) that you are doing it wrong! it will never work ! etc are automatically silenced by the commanding voice of your inner truth proclaiming “There is no failure only feedback! I am creating the world I wish to experience!”
The journey to becoming an awesome woman of power begins by unleashing your entrepreneurial goddess. Every woman has an entrepreneurial goddess lying dormant within their subconscious. Unleashing your entrepreneurial goddess enables you to awaken the multi million pound business within you that is begging to be let out. Unfortunately, years of being taught how to follow orders, not to stand out, not to ask questions not to play with your imagination, has put your goddess into a deep sleep.
Where did you learn this? Well it began at school. The current education system was designed to turn out loyal obedient workers for an industrial age and in that sense both you and it are a raving success! You are most likely an obedient worker who does not aspire beyond the idea planted deep in your psyche by the education system ... Study hard and get good job.
With your “good job” you earn just enough money to pay your bills and to be credit worthy so that you can borrow money to buy the things that you can’t afford with your wages. Now that you have been doing it for 20 or so years, you are beginning to realise a few things. First, just enough money is starting to become not enough as prices rise and wages are cut in the current economic “crisis”. Second not only are you very unlike to become independently wealthy that is, you have so much money you no longer need to work, you are very likely to retire broke.
Despite the comatose state of your entrepreneurial goddess, it is relatively easy to revive her. I say relative because it is more involved than simply yelling “wake up” – not because this won’t work but because once awake, unless you give her clear instructions about what to do next it is likely that she will almost immediately go back to sleep or worse still be afraid to act.
The first steps to unleash the your entrepreneurial goddess is:
#1. Know Your Desires
Do you know what you desire? Really? How clear is your vision of your future? Use the follow scale to gauge where you are by giving yourself a sore out of 10:
Score yourself a1 if your feel like you are looking at your future through an opaque bathroom window – you can see shapes and outlines but not details and it is impossible to figure out what is actually going on..
Score 5 if you can see clear shapes and definitions. You can see what is going on but you feel as if you just joined a movie halfway through, it all looks interesting but you don’t really understand exactly what is happening-i.e., it all seems a bit random.
Score 10 if you can describe everything in clear detail. You fully understand the main storyline and even the subplots i.e. you know who all the players are and why everything is happening. You can describe in detail how everything looks, feels and what you can hear.
Having a clear vision of what you want to achieve is like giving a blood hound an item of clothing belonging to someone you want find. Once it has the scent of what it is looking for, there is no stopping it! Once your entrepreneurial goddess understands your desires, they will act like scent to a bloodhound to unleash her creative thinking. Better still, knowing exactly what you desire will also be a powerful driving force to keep you motivated to achieve your goals when the voices of self doubt and “you are wrong” are at their loudest.
Use the following exercise to help clarify what you desire.
Think of your life at the moment. List all the things that you feel dissatisfied with. It helps to use categories like, work, relationships, money, health etc. Chose ones that are meaningful to you, there are no wrong answers. Now imagine you meet a space traveller who is able to travel through time – a sort of Dr Who. You are offered the opportunity to accompany her into the future and you decide to travel 5 years into your own future to look yourself up.
What do you see?
Has anything changed?
When you look at the list of things you were dissatisfied with 5 years ago, has anything changed?
Is it better or worse?
If it is better, what brought this about?
If it is worse or the same, what did or did not happen to make it worse or keep it the same?
You come back to the present with what you have learnt and decide to put in place a plan of action to ensure that your future is exactly what you want it to be. Using your original list, write down, next to each item, what you would rather have instead. There is no limit in terms of what you can ask for, so allow your goddess to start to create the future you dream of.
Your time travelling friend offers you another opportunity to travel into the future to look up what you have become now that you have in this alternative reality. You pick a date five years into the future and programme it into the time machine. Write the date down. This time you have achieved everything you set your heart on. All the changes you wanted to see have come to fruition.
What is your life like now?
Make sure you capture every detail, as you have forgotten to bring your camera, so you need to burn it into your memory.
What can you see?
What can you hear?
What are you feeling?
Who is with you?
What specifically are you doing?
Write yourself a letter describing your fabulous life and offering some words of encouragement to your present self. When you have completed your letter, put the date you travelled to on it and sign it.
Your time travelling companion brings you back to the present day.
By creating a clear vision of the future you desire. You empower your entrepreneurial goddess to seek, explore and start to devise ways in which to achieve it.
A great way to get the best out of your entrepreneurial goddess is to work with a business mentor or business coach. A business mentor/coach will be able to help identify your strengths and weaknesses, help you set achievable goals, teach you how to track your progress and motivate you to make the very best out of your entrepreneurial goddess based on your own needs, both professional and personal. Working in partnership with you and your inner power, a business mentor/coach can be your secret weapon on your journey to becoming a Tycoon Woman.
Despite the over use of the term, “self-made” in business, it is a fact that there are no self made people. Everyone, irrespective of what their current PR now states had help from someone and the truly great individuals are happy to admit it. Consider hiring a business coach as a positive step towards reaching your full business potential. As you develop your multi million pound business idea, the right business mentor/coach will become your trusted behind-the-scenes advisor, helping you earn more money, operate your business more smoothly, become a more effective and more successful.
