Are you putting up with 10%

You posses the most powerful tool in the universe, it’s your subconscious mind. Whilst you may currently find it difficult to believe especially if you are struggling to find answers to some of your more pressing problems at present; your subconscious mind knows everything. It has all the answers you require – the trick is to know how to use it correctly.

A common statistic banded around by the scientific community is that we only use 10% of our brains or minds. That means that we have the capacity of 90% of it that isn’t currently in use. Imagine you were asked to survive on only 10% of the calories you need each day. You would soon starve to death. Or if you could only use 10% of your lung capacity to breathe – there are many people with serious breathing problems who would tell you that would not no life. Or if you could only see 10% of the words in a book! 10% is such a small percentage of the whole that it is difficult to imagine how ignoring the 90% could in anyway be to your advantage.

It is incredible to think that we only use 10% of our minds to provide us with all the thinking that we do. Indeed it is quite amazing just how well we do on 10%. But here’s the thing – what if you could increase that by a mere 5%; given what you can do now that would surly put you in the genius league. I remember seeing a film once with John Travolta – one of the ones I suspect he’d rather forget. Anyway it was the story of a man who suddenly, due to a freak accident, had the use of 100% of his brain. I know it was science fiction but it did demonstrate the possibilities. For example he could learn languages in minutes, read books by looking at the page for a split second and even use his mind to move objects.

So why do we put up with using only 10% of our brain. I guess the answer is that we’ve got used to it because it meets our basic requirements. Also until relatively recently, before the advent of modern scientific equipment, there was no way to know just how much of your brain you were using.

The expanded use of our minds lies in our ability to engage our sub conscious mind effectively. Think of your subconscious mind as a perfect recorder. Everything it has ever seen heard, read experienced is stored there – even if you were unaware of the information going in. Consequently your subconscious mind knows everything. It has all the answers if you just use it correctly. It can lead you to a life of harmony, wealth, health, joy and success!

If you are still not convinced about the power you possess through your subconscious, try this little experiment. Before going to bed at night, programme your subconscious to wake you up at a specific time the next day by telling it what time you want to get up. Let's say you want to wake up at 7:00am. Before going to bed, tell your subconscious mind to "wake me up at 7:00am" and while saying this visualize a clock that reads 7:00. And sure enough your internal clock will wake you up at this time. Whether you get up or fall asleep again is a different story, but it works every time.

To use your subconscious mind to change your life you have to start making impressions on your subconscious mind. Using the same principle as the alarm clock start to tell your subconscious what you desire. One way to do this is to use affirmations, or you can sit in meditation and visualise what you desire. Your subconscious works better with feelings and emotions than abstract objects. So rather than sending it messages about things you want, focus on the emotional experience you will have as a result of having the thing or achieving your goal. For example if you want to attract more money flow into your life, concentrate on the feelings of wealth abundance and success, rather than money.

Whether you create an affirmation or sit in meditation, repeat the process several times during the day. It's best to do it in the morning when you get up and right before you sleep. This is when your mind is in an alpha state. Make sure you are really connected to the process and really mean it. It should not feel like something that is a chore. If it starts to feel this, take a break and remind yourself why you are doing it. Go back to your practice once you feel re energised about it.

If you need help with a problem or are in a situation where you have to make a tough decision and don't know which is the best for you. Ask your subconscious mind for help. You may say something like "Infinite wisdom of my subconscious mind, I ask for your help in deciding what is best for me now, I ask for your help and guidance in making a decision that is best for me."

Be still and listen to your subconscious mind. Close your eyes if need be and do not force anything to come to you but just be still and listen. If the answer doesn't come right away, that's ok. It's probably searching for the answer and it may take a little bit of time. Don’t worry; the answer will come…..maybe the next day or next week. You just need to be alert and open to receive it when it arrives. In my experience the answers arrive like a sudden moment of clarity and I just know what I need to do- as if I always did.

The answer may come from something outside of you, perhaps after you wake up. You may be clear in your thoughts on what to do. You may read or hear something that may enlighten you on what to do. You may receive your answer by running into a friend and she may say something that may help you decide. Just be patient and do not get frustrated and think too much about it.
