I just joined a new forum called Mumpreneurs I'm looking forward to connecting with other busy mums who are running businesses from home.
For those of you with partners who work outside the home, how do you cope with the expectation (I have to admit this is mainly from myself as my hubby as never indicated this) that you should have food ready for your family when they get back? It's a real guilt trip for me and I've worked hard on my business all day (and all night sometimes!) I get into the’ better put dinner on’ about 5pm. All my children are old enough to fend for themselves too, yet I do find the mummy genes taking over when I see the sorry efforts they make of getting themselves an even meal if i haven't cooked. My son's will typically go across the road and buy chicken and chips (every day if nothing is cooked) and my husband will eat sandwiches or cornflakes! My eldest (24) rarely comes home in time to do anything for anyone. I've tried the cooking rota - usually lasts a week before I have to become the 'Enforcer' and then I can't be bothered with all the moaning and 'I was gonna'. I note that today is 100 years of International Women's day. Nothing seems to have changed; we are still doing 2/3 of the world's work of 10% of the money. Which is probably why when you work from home you might find yourself, like me, feeling guilty for not keeping home.
